Montana

Just Imagine… a chance to care for a horse selected to match your riding ability, a chance to ride along creek beds in the back country of Montana’s True West; a chance to experience everything from sorting & moving cattle to doctoring calves & roping steers; a chance to relive the old west, while building lasting friendships within a closely knit group.

Montana’s True West Adventure will give you the chance to take responsibility and care for a horse. As a rider, you will have an opportunity to improve your horsemanship skills through hands on training with Jeff Griffith, a real working cowboy and expert in Natural Horsemanship.

The Cross Ranch is your home base for this program. Here you will get to know one another and adjust to group living. Ranch work, initiatives and goal setting will help build community spirit and teamwork.

Jeff Griffith and your leaders will provide an opportunity to choose your own horse based on your riding ability. You will then spend time on the Ranch, building your skills, before heading out on the wide open plains of Montana. In addition to riding, you will discover true horsemanship by working side by side with the cowboys of Cross Ranch.
By the end of the program you will have gained the skills and knowledge necessary to care for your own horse. In addition, a sense of independence and self-reliance will be gained. Seeing and doing all this, you will never forget what it’s all
about: FUN!
